Robb Report Magazine

This page appeared in the Showcase section of the January 2001 edition of the
Robb Report - the Luxury Lifestyle Magazine.

Opening Ceremonies
The only thing eonophiles love more than collecting wine is drinking it. They’ve raised the simple task of opening a wine bottle to a dramatic ritual.
The humble corkscrew has been elevated as a result. Wine sophisticates felt the devise shouldn’t be a mere means to an end. It must match the vintage it liberates in elegance and opulence. High technology and handcrafted precision have both been employed to produce a wealth of corkscrews and bottle openers so exquisite, they’ve captivated collectors on their own right.
- Sheila J. Gibson

A Fine Tune
Finely Corked is an online shop devoted solely to the devices that allow eonophiles to enjoy their favorite libation in style. It stocks a wealth of the best functional and collectable corkscrews, many of which are hard-to-find reproductions of classic designs from centuries past. Mmmmm. Perhaps “Finely Uncorked” would be a better name.
Among its products is the the delicate L’Esprit et le Vin line, which includes the 4000 L'Esprit - Grands Crus ($159). It’s fashioned from pewter and gilt brass after a 19th-century grape motif. The 4005 L'Esprit - Steel Spring ($149) is made of the same handsome metals and packs more bottle-opening power in the form of an integral steel spring. There’s even a classy folding 4020 L'Esprit - Pocket Model ($54) for sommeliers on the go.
